If you love fashion and Italian design, then Milan during fashion week is definitely not to be missed! The city is internationally recognised as one of the world’s most important fashion capitals, along with Paris, New York City, London and Tokyo.
Milan’s cultural calendar is full of events, but the biggest ones take place in the city every September and February. Many would stated that arguably, it is during these months that the city shines the brightest.
Come September and February of each year, hundreds of designers, editors and journalists, models and trend-setters descend on the Italian city for Milan Fashion Week (MFW). Established in 1958, MFW is organized by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (The National Chamber for Italian Fashion). It is part of the international Big 4 fashion weeks, the others being Paris Fashion Week, London Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week. Altogether there are four fashion weeks held in the city each year, two womens’ and two mens’. The women’s collection shows being the most anticipated moment of the international fashion system.
